exercise and breastmilk pumping

Jackie
Just wanted to share my experience this past week. I started an exercise regimen last Saturday, just running a couple a miles a day, which I did everyday, but nothing too intense. I noticed that there was a significant decrease in my pumping output. I pump 2 times a day when I'm at work. My morning session is usually the most at 8-10 oz and my afternoon session is usually 5-6oz. After starting my runs, I noticed that and this started on my Tuesday pumping sessions, my morning pump was less than 5 oz and my afternoon was less than 4 oz. I tried a few things like increase my water intake and even my calorie intake, but I don't think it was enough. So I stopped exercising yesterday and this morning session I did 9 oz! I'm thinking that I can put my exercise on hold until after I stop breastfeeding or maybe when baby starts solid foods thinking I won't have to pump as much as I have a really nice freezer stash going right now. As much as I would love to lose a few extra pounds, I don't want to risk my milk supply. Has any of you mamas experienced this or had a good outcome in regards to exercise and milk supply?
