Anyone else have borderline personality disorder? Scared that the baby will get it and it has me extremely worried as I know that it was very hard on me and I would never want my child to experience that 😟

I have borderline. Im not concerned as I'm very informed about my personality disorder, actively attend therapy and am always honest with my team of therapists even if my behaviour or thoughts (eating disorders, self harm, etc) feel shameful at the time, I know I have nothing to be ashamed of & plan to be proactive with my childs mental health as well! Know the signs(quite a spectrum), stay educated !

My father had schizofrenia and my mother had bipolardisorder with schizoid effect. I had more than a 50% chance of getting bipolar disorder, and I did. It has been hard, but for me personally the fact that my grandparents who adopted me didnt know how to show love regularly(they gave you gifts and money to show love and appreciation)was what was the worst. My opinion didnt matter as a child. Basically what I am getting at is you can be more understand and compassionate as someone who has live with this. You already being worried about the future of your little makes me infinently proud of you. Just don't let that fear control you. Use it to better care for them in the long run. I feared getting pregnant because my husband has BPD and a genetic blood disorder that any boy we have is garuntee to have issues with, and because I am bipolar with fibromyalgia and arthritis from a young age. I am 36 weeks with our first, a baby boy. We just need to love our children that much more. Good luck! I hope your little one is born happy and healthy

My father had it, I think I have it from him, but now I am pregnant with a baby girl and feel the way you do! Therapy will help a lot!! Just remember to keep positive thoughts

My sil has it and has been told that there is a chance that some of her kids will have it. 2 of her 4 seem like they have it but they are too young for a diagnosis.

Talk to your doctor and a therapist to get a better understanding of the risks that baby might develop it
