Buying bra for someone else's kid, ok or not?

My 11 year old niece has started to develop breasts. I don't know her mom because she lives in Malta but I've been in my nieces life since she was 5.  I remember having to ask my mum to take me bra shopping for my first bra and it was so awkward and embarrassing, I hated it. My friends moms had all given them bras and I felt really uncomfortable.

If she needs a bra, and you're the adult female figure in her life, by all means get the kid a bra

Is her Mom currently in her life? Does she live away from her for long periods of time? Are you a main female caregiver for her? If so, I think it is fine. If you are close to her, but she has a main female caregiver, then I would think that would be the other woman's duty..

My aunt suggested buying me a bra at age 9, when I didn't develop breasts until 11. It was the most embarrassing day of my life.

Honestly, I feel like that's a personal thing that I'd rather do for my kid, particulaly for the first bra.

I take my step daughter to get bras. Her dad bought her her first "training" bras, but she was 13 gets no teases in gym class for not having what the other girls called a "real" bra (one with underwire). So she asked me to buy her some, her mom lives 1000 miles away and she wasn't going to visit her for 4 months. So I took her shopping. Obviously I told her dad and he was happy to have me help her because it was more awkward for him. I think it depends on the situation. If she's going to see her mom soon I might wait and let her mom take her though.

I mean if she's bouncing around, I would at least give her a sports bra. She's your niece. I don't see an issue with it..

I think whoever the primary adult female figure in her life is...or if she just has her dad and they are close he should do it.
But if mom isn't in the picture on a day to day basis, then no it's not up to her.

If I was the mum I'd want to be there for the first ever bra shop after that it's not an issue. If you are the main guardian then I don't see a problem

Don't go ahead, she lives with her mum full time,she is visiting her dad, so ask her dad to check and I'm sure the mom won't mind, although the little girl is only visiting for 6 weeks so it might be best for her to wait and go with her mummy
