Can heterosexual people be friends of opposite sex 100% no feelings?

My mom and I disagree.. I don't think people can be friends for long periods of time without developing feelings for the other.. my mom says yes they can. I have NEVER met anyone that stayed just friends (no feelings).  My hubby and I were together as kids.. went separate ways years later met again and were yes 100% friends. Like I had 0 feelings. Until one day bam I looked at him and was like wait... you're amazing. I know that's one case but honestly who stayed just friends no feelings at all????? I'm really curious
