nail infection??

hey ladies, a few days ago i started getting some really bad pain by the side of my nail, it felt like the end of my nail was piercing my skin so i tried to cut the nail and it cut down but the pain still persisted. now it is yellow-ish and looks like this. what is it??? do i need to go to the doctor??

It's an infected hang nail.... I would do a hot salt water bath, put your finger in it and soak for like 10 min. I would do this at least everyday. It will help with the pain too! Then put neosporin on it. If it doesn't clear up in a week go to the doctor....

I've had this like 3 or 4 times in my life because I have a gross habit of biting my nails/cuticles. For some relief, soak in warm/hot-ish water and epsom salt. Hope this helps.

I had this ok my big toe once! Went to the doctor and she cut me open and squeezed it all out! She told me I could have done it at home 😂😂 I'm too chicken though. Then she had me use the hottest water I could stand, put lots of salt in it, soak it three times a day! You'll only need antibiotics if it spreads! (It still needs to be drained)

Possibly a nail infection go see your doctor could possibly put you on antibiotics if it is one. Without a doctors visit it could spread to your other fingers.

It's an infection. A collection of pus under the skin. You can go to the doctor and they can drain it for you.

Actually a hang nail is the little skin that sticks up above your cuticles...
Your nail got shorter on that side and it's growing out and it's pushing on your skin causing it to be irritated and infected. I would soak it and put some Neosporin on it. If you can push your skin over and file the corner it will help. I used to chew my nails and when they'd grow out of get the same thing. It was usually a sharp point on my nail stabbing my skin but filing the corner will take the point off until it grows past the skin. Don't take your nails too short
