Difficulty peeing after vaginal birth?

I'm 4 days postpartum and I have 2nd degree tears (mainly going from my perineal down to my anus) and since the day I've given birth, I have very little sensation to my bladder. It gets better day by day, but I find it hard to completely empty my bladder in one go and being able to tell when I actually have to go to the bathroom. Have any of you mommas had this problem? When did it get better? How long did it last?

Do you have a peri bottle? Using one to spray water on your tear will help with the pain of getting urine on it.

I had that! It took probably 2 weeks to get totally back to normal. I found it so strange since you mostly hear about people peeing themselves, not the opposite!

I had the same thing, I'm two weeks postpartum tomorrow and it just got better about two days ago.

I'm 9 days postpartum and I have this!!!
I also mainly tore in my butt area and I have pain when I flex my muscles down there. 
I have to make myself go to the bathroom even when I don't feel an urge otherwise I'll pee myself. 
Usually you hear the opposite, how people can't hold their pee

I had trouble peeing after my catheter was removed post c section....very different but a nurse gave me a tip to blow a small amount of air out of my mouth like I'm blowing it through a drinking straw. Steady air blowing it through an invisible straw helped me in '07 and again '17 with my trouble. Again, very different since we had different deliveries but it may help you. Good luck!

The exact same thing happened to me. It seems impossible, but you'll be fine soon. Use witch hazel mixed with water, and wash using a peri bottle. My doctor also prescribed ibuprofen and stool softener. Take them without any hesitation. Take care of yourself, it's very important. -Rohini

It lasted for 3 weeks! I had trouble peeing and pooping. It gets better. I would sit on the toilet and try too pee even if I didn't have the urge to go. It would help sometimes. 
I also had a 2nd degree tear. I'm 7 weeks pp and I'm still sore and stitches still haven't dissolved.

With my first child I ended up I'm the er the morning after I was discharged because I was not able to pee at all, I ended up with a catheter for 1 week and had to retrain my bladder after. Dr said it was likely because I pushed for so long with him. Second child I was fine! Third child...about ten hours after giving birth I realized I had not gone to the bathroom so I tried and nothing, waited an hour and tried again and still could not pee at all. Finally the nurse decided to straight cath me and said I was super swollen but that gave me so much relief...until the next time I felt I needed to go again and couldn't. This time they put a catheter in for the rest of my hospital stay. Putting that catheter in being as swollen as I was ( and it took them 3 tries) was way worse then the actual birth😕

Pour a jug of luke warm water down yourself while peeing it will help it not burn I had to do this with my first child otherwise I couldn't finish. My friend told me to do this and it was best advice I ever got. Xx
