Do you know about the harmony test? Are you going to do it?

The harmony test is when your doctor draws blood from you to determine the baby's gender!! This can be done as early as seven weeks !! It also can pick up on any abnormalities your baby may have like; spina bifida, Down syndrome, and other genetic conditions.

I'm doing it because I'm at risk for genetic/chromosomal abnormalities. Finding out the gender so early is just a perk :)

I did it with my first, and it was great. We found out the gender really early too! I was high risk, so my insurance covered it the first time.

You only need to do it if you're at risk. Your doctor decides.

Make sure your insurance will cover it before! If you have no risk factors, it's very easy for an insurance company to deny covering the test because it's not medically necessary. If they don't cover it, then the cost does not apply to your deductible, and you could be on the hook for a couple hundred dollars.

Your doctors office can give you the code for the test and you can call your insurer to double check. You may also have a company nearby that does the test without insurance for a set amount (by us it's about $200.)

I'm high risk due to having a baby with a chromosomal abnormality before, so I will definitely be having it done. Knowing the gender though is just a nice little bonus!
