what do I say to family

Getting my boyfriend to come to my family functions is like pulling a tooth. Today they're having Easter lunch like in a half hour and he's sleeping... I've told him many times about this since I found out, but I pretty much said he can come if he wants because I'm don't trying to force him to come. Yesterday he said I probably should go. Because he knows my family will be pissed and look at him bad if he doesn't. So I was hoping he was going to come but again he's still sleeping off his hangover, on purpose I'm sure.So I'm not sure what to say to my family why he's not there. It's just hard for me because I don't want to make him look shitty even though he's being that way. And it's harder because I'm pregnant so now they really expect him to be there but I know that's not going to happen.
