how do you coparent?

My SO's ex is still in love with him and tries to talk to him all the time.. he doesn't acknowledge her or her feelings, but it makes me uncomfortable.. so he went to go see his son tonight at her place and his son sleeps in the same room as her because she has a 2 br apartment with her friend, and I dont like him being in her room. I nicely asked him if she could just drop him off at our house for a few hours when he wants to see him after school and work, and he's acting like he cant do that.. how do other people go about situations like this? does the father go sit at the exes house with the kid for hours? or go somewhere with the kid? and I also asked him if he could come pick me up before he went over there because I would like to see his son as well, but his response was "that's doing too much".. I feel disrespected

Court ordered cisitiom I don't know if that was the original OP comment but I had to deal with that during my custody arrangement and there's a center you can go to for that visitation in every state. I did so much research on it. Or if both parents can agree on a 3rd party supervisor for the visitation then it doesn't have to be with his ex and at her place. However, I know he is your SO I do have to say, my ex and I fight like cats and dogs. Say horrible things to each other and don't get along. BUT he has asked to hook up before while he was in a relationship with someone else. I only bring that up bc I think it's strange that he wouldn't want to bring you along when he goes there. I personally ask my husband now to go with me everytime I'm around my ex just for the sole purpose of that's my husband and knowing that my ex would want to hook up still

Went through something the same. Split with my sons father and he was still in love and always tried to make it about us. I'm with someone else. But I got a court order so there are set rules and times and no bullshiting with stuff. He should not be at her house in her room. I never even have to drive down the same street as my ex anymore after court. Let alone enter his house.

He needs a court order delineating the custody /visitation time. He should talk to an attorney about getting one. Good luck.

That's not coparenting. File for DNA, parenting time and child support. He has a right to have a relationship with his child independent of the mother. All information is based on a need to know basis during normal hours. Let's say 8 am-8pm for instance. Email is most advantageous for both parties. My SO and his ex coparent prettt well.  He works a lot a d sometimes he doesnt get to see his daughter as often.  When that happens he might take her and their daughter for dinner.  She calls him every night, whether it be so his daughter can talk to him or she can tell her daughter good night.  All meetings and conversations are geared to their daughter though...

My fiancé and I both co parent and his BM is like that, it drives me nuts and at first HE JUST LET IT HAPPEN! I politely one day, when she way overstepped boundaries in front of me, said I did not like how she was acting and as his soon to be wife I felt uncomfortable and he then took my side and said it was getting old. Now my sons father and I have a very easy coparent situation and I do go over there, with his parents, and hang out with my son certain days. But never go there with just my son and his father. With my fiancés BM it is a constant fight and drives me insane, and after talking calmly about it (which killed me because I just wanted to scream) he finally sat down with me and told her that she NEEDED to stop. Only contact would be about their son, and that was it. Set times she can text him, texts were coming through at midnight about STUPID things, and that she needed to talk to him about majority of things in person. If it wasn't appropriate then it didn't need to be said. Since then it's been way better and easier, I feel like sometimes it's just "easier not to fight" so men don't say anything but there comes a point where enough is enough and we need to be respected as their woman. If my man told me I couldn't go with him to see his son I would personally flip tf out. That's not okay, hope this helps!

I'm kinda having that same issue and would like to hear others advice as well cause I don't talk to my friends or family about the situation. This week I would hopefully get to meet the child's mother since I will be having a baby this summer so his daughter will have a new sibling.
