Did castor oil work for you?

My widwife suggested I take castor oil, she said to fill a shot glass. Did it work for you? If so did how much did you take? I'm reading it says 1 or 2 tablespoons.

I took a shot at 4:30pm started having contractions at 9:30pm.  they lasted till about 3:30 am and started to get farther and farther apart. Then they stopped :( so I answered yes but it didn't last long. But it did help me dilate 1cm

My midwife said one tablespoon and it that doesn't do anything try another in 3 hours.

I believe it's 1-2 tablespoons as well. 
Warning: since it is a laxative you'll most likely get diarrhea and that irritation is said to cause contractions. It may help but it may do nothing but cause you discomfort.

Also some hospitals are testing babies who have a bowel movement in the womb for castor oil since it's now seen as child endangerment. The baby can get diarrhea too if it's abused and during delivery can risk inhaling the meconium.
