As members of a society, is it our responsibility to help others when/if we can?

To some degree. I'm happy to pay taxes towards social programs and even volunteer my time. I don't feel a responsibility to give money to everyone who asks walking down the street though.

Yesss. Which for me means allocating taxes to social programs to aid EVERYONE in the U.S.  Increasing paternity/maternity leave, and implementing methods like the "baby box" to encourage mother's to be to get regular checkups, "free" health care, free if not insanely cheap college etc. these things have been shown to improve quality of life for every citizen.
I would very much like to see a change in the U.S. Thought process where you live to work. I'd rather it shift to something far less overbearing. It's been shown that when given time off and vacations people do better. I'd like it if eventually that could be our reality here. As every mom, dad, single or not could use a break to focus on their self health.

I'm never having kids, and I'm not attending any colleges, so I myself won't utilize free college (but once it's free who knows) or maternity/paternity leaves, but I understand that it's not so cut and dry about me. My life will be better when everyone else is doing better.

Yes. Or at least to me it is. I've been high and I've been low so if I see someone struggling, I'm gonna help them even if it inconveniences me. Once my husband and I were driving to the gas station on E and we saw a man stranded with a flat, we used our last little fumes of gas to drive him to a tire shop and back to his car even tho our car could have broken down at any moment. Helping people is how you unlock your own blessings. Plus, it's good karma bc you never know when you're gonna need some help from a stranger.

I'm not sure I'd say it's strictly a responsibility but it's deffo the right thing to do. I do believe people also need to try and help themselves where able.

I wouldn't say it's my responsibility...but it sorta makes you a decent human.
I don't think we should give so much to other s we end up hurting ourselves either.
