Do you believe in modern medicine? Why (not)?

Im doing that poll based on some comments I have read in vaccination posts. Whats your opinion on modern medicine and everything that comes with it?

I can't deny medicine is the reason for longer life spans, increased quality of life, decreased mortality rates and almost anything else that would benefit humans life.

Yes I do, if I didn't I wouldn't be alive today! The chemotherapy and radiation I received in 2006 rid me of my cancer, every infections I have ever had the medication has gotten rid of it. Medicine is a life saver!

This is one of those things where your "belief" does not make a single iota of difference. Medicine works because of hundreds of years of research. You can think that your youtube videos and antivax blogs are comparable all you like - they aren't, they never will be, and modern medicine will keep saving lives while you're busy whining about "big pharma"

Yes and no. Medications do help. But I also feel that they should've made a lot more cures for diseases. Instead of just treatment that don't always work. As for vaccines, I'm for some of them, but not all of them. We only had to have a few and now kids have to have so many. And there are a lot more cases of bad reactions and even a few deaths after them. It's so many chemicals given at once. I'm on the fence with them. If they made them a little more naturally I'll have no problem with them.

I chose yes but I'm also going to make the argument that it could be both. Yes because if not for modern medicine the top killers of humans would be diseases like polio and measles. Now however the top killers are cardiovascular diseases, cancers, etc. which have been linked to one's diet/lifestyle and therefore no I don't entirely believe in the modern medicine used to treat these (sometimes) preventable illnesses.

I do believe that modern medicine has done wonders. I do not believe that the modern pharmaceutical industry has our best interests in mind.

I believe it exists and works, I don't necessarily believe it's a good thing. I don't think people were ever meant to live to be 110 years old.
