Have you ever had a short and light period for a reason other than implantation bleeding?

I've recently had two short (2-3 day) cycles. Both have been mostly brown spotting aside from a light flow for the first couple hours on day one. I came off the pill almost 5 months ago so I'm guessing that is why, but just want to hear from other ladies who have experienced this before I see my doctor. Prior to the pill I had a very heavy flow for about 5 days.
