when did you switch ur baby to a booster seat?

My son turns 9 months in a couple days. I bought him the Graco Nautilus 65 lx Conley about two months ago. I haven't switched him because I felt he was still small at the time. I saw a friend who son's is the same age as mine and she has him sitting in a scoop booster already. I feel like I bought him a booster to big for him. I went according to the weight and he sits in it perfectly. It is straight and I think if he falls  asleep he will be uncomfortable....... anyone have their 9 months sitting in a booster seat???

This is two months ago. He sat perfectly into it but he seemed too straight up. My question is, would it be ok to switch him?

I'm confused because what's in the photo looks to me to be a convertible carseat, not a booster. My daughter switched from her baby bucket seat to a convertible carseat (rear facing of course) around 6 months and was much happier than in the infant seat. My 4 year old isn't even in a booster yet, the carseat techs said not recommended until age 6 or 7. You can take it with the baby to the fire department and they will switch the seats for you and fit the baby in the straps and headrest. I have 3 kids and even though we're experienced with carseats they always find at least 1 thing we are doing incorrectly so it's a good free resource.  The upper clip in the photo is positioned too low, it should be level with the baby's nipples.

No that is way to young and dangerous. My son is very tall and I had him sitting in a carseat till he was 18 months because his legs were to long. My son is almost 4 and still sits in the carseat he's had since he was 18 months, once he hits 4 he will be put in a booster right for his age and weight. Your friend should put her child back in the appropriate carseat before her kid gets hurt.

I just looked up this carseat online it is NOT approved for rear facing.  Your baby should be rear facing until age 2 at the youngest, most states have laws that you can't have baby forward facing sooner. This seat is designed for toddlers, youngest weight 22 pounds but it is not safe to be forward facing even at that weight if the baby is under age 2, and this seat is not designed to be installed rear facing. I'd buy a convertible carseat unless you're okay holding on to this one for awhile for when baby is older.

My little guy is 13 months old and he's still in his baby carrier! I think it's something you could speak to your pediatrician about, perhaps they can recommend a carseat specialist who can give you 100% accurate information.

I put my daughter in a car seat that goes from infant to full booster at 12 months! It was rear facing until about a week ago and she is almost two! It still reclined basically as much as her infant seat is just couldn't take it with me like I could the infant seat!
