How to accept compliments....

On the subject of compliments how do you learn to realise when someone is paying you a compliment and just accept it gracefully? I just can't I always seem to manage to talk ppl back out of it and they just get fed up with me and mostly learn to not compliment me anymore! What do you do? Tips welcome xx
