Did ur nipples hurt when u breastfeed 4 the 1st time?

I didn't breastfeed with my other babies but I wanted 2 try with this 1 but I am scared bec my sister breastfed & her nipples looked sore & swollen.

The first week was quite uncomfortable (but not excruciating) but then it got better really quickly. Don't be put off before you try it.

My 1st is almost 3 months old.  I gotta tell you it was really hard in the beginning.  I was bruised, bleeding and in a lot of pain.  I wanted to quit so many times, but I stuck with it and it's a lot easier now.  I'm really glad I kept up with it.

It hurt while they adjusted but after you adjust and they have a good latch it's fine. Totally worth it.

My right one was really sore for a few days at first but I pushed on through it and it's been awesome ever since. Lots of lanolin cream or coconut oil for a bit. 😊

Only the first few days, it never hurt after that. They looked cracked and I used cream for a week or two but nothing since then (4 months in).

I'm  FTM and I was determined to BF my little lady. I started right after she was born, and offered every hour or two those first few days. You will get sore, but it should not be unbearably painful. Take care of your skin with cream and those silicone soothing patches religiously, and any irritation will pass within a week or two. If it's extremely painful, work with the nurse or lactation consultant before you leave the hospital. I actually recommend using them regardless, as they always have helpful advice! Today we're 13 months in, and still nursing.

I'll add that however you ultimately feed your baby, you're doing great,  mama. Too many people out there judge us for our choices. Ignore that mess and enjoy this amazing time in your life.

I had a really easy time nursing my daughter. Never had any pain. Yes i was lucky, and the baby doesn't always have a perfect latch from the start. But it is possible! Don't decide not to try based off of people's bad experiences. It could be the easiest thing you've ever done :)

My experience was pure hell. I hated breastfeeding but was determined to give my child and myself the health benefits of it. I stuck it out and she's still nursing at three years old. I would absolutely try it before deciding on not doing it. If it hurts for more than 30 seconds you need to find a lactation consultant because there's an underlying issue. Breastfeeding should never be painful.
