How do you tell your parents you were raped? I know everyone's parents react differently, but I want to know what other people's experiences were like when they told their parents.

So I was raised by a village.. some tried to chase after the guy and hunt him down, some said to get over it, a couple felt I needed counseling, and a couple actually gave me the space to decide for myself.

You are in control. This could really hurt your parents, but it is not your fault and they will come together to help. This could make them angry, remind them that violence doesn't solve anything. If they don't want to help, do it yourself (if it's what you want). The police station is there for you. This does not define your life. Remember that one bad person, doesn't make them all bad. There was likely no particular reason for it to happen, so don't waste time trying to find one. If it's had to deal with, counseling can help.. make sure you are comfortable with the counselor if this is what you decide. If you don't tell your parents, hiding the truth can hurt more ( I also know this all too well), and if they find out another way, they will be hurt even more. You can do this and I'm sorry that this is a topic for you now, but it gets better.
