IUD Strings too long?

Hi guys today I got my copper IUD inserted and I think the strings are too long, they are poking me and they are bothering me a lot. Is this normal and for how long will they be like this???  (I heard that the doctor sometimes does this on purpose because the strings curl up) #help :(

It will be uncomfortable for a while. When you go for a check up they might trim the string. Usually they keep the string a little long because they wait to see if the iud migrates up.  Or at least that was my experience
