Vanishing twin? when are we in the clear?!

Moms of multiples I need your help! Despite some of my researcher I cannot find the "statistics" and safe zone of Vanishing Twin Syndrome (VTS.) I went in for my eight week ultrasound to find that I was only 5wks3days (late ovulation) and both yolk sacs were seen - they deemed it monochorionic diamniotic twins! I was thrilled!!! Our son died and January and I had prayed for a baby soon after, now good had given us too! I went back today (to ensure the pregnancy was progressing as they measured much earlier than my LMP) everything looked great!!! We saw two baby's both measuring 6wks exactly as they should be! Two healthy heart beats within normal range 101 and 113 bpm. It was so magical! It's truly set in that two were in there! From what I've read I cannot tell if the risk of VTS is decreased after seeing the heartbeats? When are we totally out of the clear? 
Baby A was easy to see, baby B (the white line) is hugging the side of the gestational sac and can only been seen in the transverse scan. This is the only picture we got of both in the same shot.

I don't trust it that early. At 6 weeks they said one of my fraternal twins was non viable and would vanish. I am now 13 weeks with both babies they are the same size and everything :)

I was terrified of this too. Found out at 6 weeks it was didi twins and been terrified ever since haha! But I know the risk goes way down after seeing heartbeats. And every week is a milestone with twins, so celebrate every new weeks as one week further away from that scary danger zone. I'm now 15+2 and finally relaxing some and really enjoying my babies. Twin pregnancy is a scary rollercoaster! Some tips I've found helped me so far:

- get the book "twins, triplets and multiples" or something like that. It's the best out there and gives great advice on what to be eating, etc
- try a healthy protein drink --- I was told I should try for almost 100g of protein a day! That's a ton! And I was super nauseated the first 12 weeks. Luckily I could keep down a Starbucks berry protein drink which was about one third of my daily amount. Put my mind at ease too knowing babies were getting what they needed. 
- at home Doppler! Won't be useful til about after 9-10 weeks, but we now listen to heartbeats every Sunday and it's great reassurance in between appointments. 
- don't google! Whatever you do 😊

I would assume the same as a miscarriage, after 1st trimester. I had vanishing twin syndrome and was super worried until 11 weeks at my second appointment I felt confident enough to announce my pregnancy.  My first appointment was when I had learned it was twins and she said it had literally just happened. I was 9 weeks and both were measuring 8 weeks 6 days. Hope this helps. There isn't a lot out there on VTS. It's a weird rollercoaster and I tried to find anything to help ease my mind.

This does not have to do with vanishing twins, but if you have facebook yoy should join the groups "modi twins" and "modi twin pregnancies" VERY helpful groups when it comes to questions and routine care you should be receiving. Also congrats :) ion currently 20 wks with modi girls.

I had this happen last year and unforntatley neither baby made it. At a 6 week scan we saw both and both sacs one measured an entire week behind the other but did have a heart beat. We went in at 9 weeks to discover that the stronger of the two had absorbed its twin and had also started to become deformed and its heart had stopped. We were devastated. We went to Vegas and tried to turn our misfortune into a bonding expeirence. It was miserable for me to be carrying our now dead baby around. Once we got home we called our doctor and decided to opt for surgical removal my hormone levels were still so high from it being a twin pregnancy I wasn't going to release it for what could be a few weeks. It is honestly the worst case scenario to this type of situation but me and my husband grew closer because of it and are now expecting twins again! I am 6w3d and they are the same size and everything looks great. The doctor also put me on provera as a precaution as it can help the babies get the nutrition they need as the placenta starts to attach to your uterine wall. Good luck💜 sending good vibes your way.

I could be wrong but I believe once they pass the embryo stage they're less likely for the vanishing twin thing. Again, I'm not the most sure.
