c-section recovery tips?

My baby girl finally arrived! My delivery ended in an emergency c-section Sunday morning and I wasn't expecting or prepared for this. We just got home from the hospital a few hours ago. Any recovery tips as far as breastfeeding, taking care of my incision, things to do and not to do? What to expect from my first poop (I'm terrified)? Lol. Thanks in advance!

I had an emergency c section with my son April 21st. My best advice is to make sure you keep your incision clean and dry. My doctor told me to clean it with soap at least twice a day. Getting in and out of bed is going to be the most difficult thing so make sure you ask your SO for help so you don't strain yourself. Take your pain meds on schedule. I tried skipping a few doses of mine... HUGE mistake. I started feeling somewhat normal around day 8, so don't get discouraged like I did when I didn't feel back to normal after day 3 lol. Keep active because you'll heal much faster, but when you notice your body hurting, relax. As for breastfeeding, try positions where baby isn't resting on your stomach because it'll put a lot of pressure on your incision and it'll hurt like a bitch 😅 these are all things I wish someone would've told me so I hope this helps!

In addition to colace, I recommend taking gas x regularly as well---i got the strips that just dissolve in your mouth. And definitely stay on top of your pain meds! Also make sure you don't overdo it. I started feeling pretty good around day 6 and tried to get some small things done around the house and big mistake---drained me and then I felt worse later on. So definitely rest up and like the other ladies said let other people help you.

Take colace for your poop! Should totally help! Let people help you. Super hard for me but you just have to do it. The more you relax the sooner your breast milk will come in and your body will heal up. Stay ahead of your pain by taking your meds on time. Im day 10 and am feeling pretty good now, just sore in the mornings from getting up and down all night feeding. Definitely not as bad as I thought it'd be. Oh; and if you have staples...I thought it would hurt like a bitch getting them removed...but I couldn't even feel it! So don't stress!

I have done way too much my little is 12 days old and most days I completely forget I ever even had surgery because I feel fabulous. I've been driving, picking up my 18 month old, vacuuming, etc etc etc.

Please don't be like me. Whatever you do, no matter how you feel, please try to remember you had major surgery and rest at least six weeks.

The first poop with my first was no big deal, but with my second it sucked. It took about a week to get back to normal. Your incision area just some mild soap, and keep it dry. Try to avoid steps or go slow. Take your pain meds for as long as you need and keep on top of them, they also depending on what it is can cause constipation. Get. Stool softener. Take your prenatals too.

I just had my 3rd c/s April 17th, but I know from experience that an emergency c/s is NOTHING like a scheduled one! Definitely avoid stairs, drink lots of water and take stool softeners!!! When you're finally going to "go", don't force it. Take your meds ON schedule! Even if you think you feel fine, you don't want the pain to catch up to you because it's much harder to get under control. I hope this helps! 😊

Don't overdo yourself even if you're feeling better. Give yourself time to recoup!
Take your pain meds even if you're not having pain, because a lot of times the pain will come back with a vengeance and you'll regret not taking it.
Take a stool softener!!! I was soooo constipated from the pain meds and I felt like I gave birth again when I finally had my first bowel movement! 😫 
Use a blow dryer on low heat to dry your incision after you clean it or shower, otherwise it can get an ugly smell and not heal right or get infected from being moist. I also used something called Hibiclens that you can buy from just about any pharmacy to clean the incision. 
Never be afraid to ask for help or get rest! You'll need it!

Take care of yourself, ask for help, take all your medicines even when your not in pain, take a hot shower and let the water run on the scar.. the tape will fall out and you'll feel better after, it will be fine after a few weeks/months.

Just went throught the same thing. Got home a week ago. Just let people help you. Do not stress your body. Dont be aftaid to let people help. It was really hard for me at first. I couldnt breastfeed she seemed to hate my nipplea lol. Started pumping... Best decision i ever made. Good luck and feel better :)

Stool Softeners! Don't be embarrassed to take them, they've helped a ton with me. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help. I was stubborn and thought "I got this!" As soon as I got home and ending up hurting my cut by over doing it and my husband would remind me that he's there for me for that reason, so I now ask for help even if I'm not sure I need it. I'm 2 weeks PP, and doctor says it doesn't even look like I'll have a scar 😊
Oh, and stay hydrated!!

Ok, now I'm more depressed. I'm 14 days pp from an emergency c-section and feel like crap still. Even with stool softeners it hurts to poop so bad. I hate how much Ibuprofen I'm taking so tried to not take any today. Spent the day depressed, painful and with an upset stomach. And have been reading of how many women have long term problems. Trying a heating pad on my tummy and am back on Ibuprofen. Until I can quit the pain meds I'm not allowed to drive.
