Would you ever pick up someone who was hitchhiking?

I was just driving and saw a guy hitchhiking. I wanted to pick him up but I noticed him too late and couldn't stop. I know it's illegal here to hitchhike and generally you aren't supposed to pick these people up, but I can't help but want to. I feel obligated to go back and get him. So to answer the poll, would you ever pick someone up who was hitchhiking? For additional questions, have you already done it? Or have you been hitchhiking?
