Pregnancy!?!?

Okay so a few weeks ago I spotted for 2 days and then it just stopped and I wasn't supposed to have my period yet and I've never had spotting before so I was confused!! Well now around the time I'm supposed to have my period I am 6 days late! How long after a missed period should you take a test? I don't know if I should wait a little longer or if now is a okay time to take a test? Help!
