birthday gift for a guy

I have a friend and he turns 18 this month. I have a boyfriend and he has a girlfriend, so it's not a romantic relationship betweem us. He likes trap shooting, hunting, anything outdoors, and he plays football. I want to get him something that basically let's him know that I care and I'll be there for him and a thank you for having my back too. But i cannot think of ANYTHING. Any ideas? He's manly, and doesn't like clichè sentimental things but I'd like it to be sentimental between us. Not like, obviously sentimental, but low key sentimental. Sorry for thw awful description, but if you could help me out, that'd be great! Thanks!
