how do I raise a Black man in a society that kills black men

I am pregnant and I don't know if I am having a boy or girl. (Finding out this weekend) Being a black woman is hard. Is it horrible that I would prefer to have a girl in today's political climate. It scares me to death that so many black men, kids as well are being gunned down by police officers. Everyday i am hearing reports of them being found "not guilty" or charges simply being dropped. I can not have a boy, I can not raise a boy in a country where the first president of his life does not support black men. Where is obama?

I don't have any children nor am I pregnant. But, I believe that fear should not be a guiding force in how we live our lives or raise our children. I strongly feel teaching our children the adversities they will encounter and how to handle those adversities are a profound marker in changing their outlook on the world and the society they live in. Don't get me wrong, we need to be cautious of the injustices, racism, hate, discrimination and prejudice out there, but we cannot allow that fear to push us back in the dark. Understanding where this comes from allows us to control how we act towards the systematic dehumanizing culture we live in today.

First, Obama wouldn't do shit but talk sweetly to us about it. So get that misconception of super Obama out your head. Think of it this way, you are having this baby when so much is happening to change that very system. By the time he is a teen, chances are things will be much better. Also, if you believe in scripture and prophecy, we will be in the Kingdom before hes a teen so none of us will have to worry about those we love.
