The best day of my life
So here's my son's birth story
Friday April 28th I went into the hospital at 6 am for my scheduled induction. I had gestational diabetes so my Dr didnt want me going past 39 weeks. I was so nervous. I tried to eat the night before and ended up throwing up before midnight so I had no food. The nurses started my iv at about 7 but I didnt get pitocin until 10:30. My parents, in laws, aunt and husband all stayed the whole 18 hours I was in labor. When I went in I was already 3 cm dilated and 50 percent effaced. At 2:30 pm on Friday I was 5 cm and 50 percent so the dr broke my water. I got my epidural before she broke my water. Mostly because after I got the pitocin they would not let me out of the bed to pee and it was so hard using a bed pan. So really I wanted the catheter. The next 12 hours I slowly progressed and about 2:30 am on Saturday april 29th the Dr came in to tell me I was 9 cm and completly thinned out but little man was still high up. So she suggested I sit up in the bed for an hour and she would come back and check me. So about 3:30 am she checked me and said it was time to push. Pushing was a strange feeling. My husband is on one side my mom on the other. 2 nurses watching me and the monitor telling me when im having a contraction because I cant feel them. In between pushes we had random conversations about weddings, school and babies. I pushed for 2 hours and my baby boy was born at 5:42 am. He came out with the cord around his neck. So the dr immediatly cut the cord and the nurses started working on him. 2 minutes later he let out a huge cry. He was 6 pounds 15.8 oz and 20 inches long. He is now 1 week old and perfectly healthy. My husband and I are so in love with our first born. We cant wait to watch him grow and love him.
