What to tell people when you and your SO met online?

I met my boyfriend of 6 months on tinder. Both of our parents and siblings know that, but we don't really tell extended family that because of all the stigma about online dating, especially with older people. We just say we met through a mutual friend. If you met your SO online, what do you tell your family? Tell your story in the comments!

I met my SO 6 years ago (The day before Thanksgiving 2011) at a grocery store. He followed me all the way into the store and pretended to bump into me 3 times. On the fourth try, He finally started talking to me and we exchanged numbers. And here we are 3 kids later and I swear I'm so in love with this man! 💓

Met my bf on Facebook we had mutual friends though. I'm embarrassed to say we met on Facebook because I just hate the idea of meeting people online if it's not a dating site so we both just say we met through a mutual friend, close enough lol but we somehow became friends on Facebook and I just sent him a message one day and we hit it off and now it's been a year and a half with him💙

We met at a restaurant. I was outside waiting on a friend, who ended up calling to cancel because a family emergency came up. He overheard and came up to me after I was done talking and said he couldn't help overhear and would I like some company? I figured why not, if he's an ass I'll never see him again (plus we were in a very public place, so I could cause a scene if I really didn't feel safe) and we wound up taking about 3 hours to get through dinner because we were talking and laughing so much. At the end of the night, he gave me his number and said he would be hoping I'd liked the night as much as he had.

When I was 14 almost 15 he went from the annoying little brother to the hey your brother is kind of cute. His sister and I take her son trick or treating and she tells me that him and this girl were getting a divorce. I'm just like good for him I've finally decided to move on... well we run in to him and it's like the old times just hanging then trick or treating was over and I went home and a few days later he sends me a message and here we are 2 yrs later happy and loving every minute of it..

I worked at a Chinese with another person, let's call them Charlie 👍🏻 charlie told my now bf to come in for a chinese sometime while they were just making conversation, and my bf goes to a church run pantomine down the road from the Chinese, which he joined because of another friends of his persuaded him to go. So after panto he would get a Chinese, while he waited for his food he would talk to Charlie, but some shifts Charlie wasn't there so he would talk to me instead. He's in A-level at school and I'm in GCSE, (he's two years older) so usually in school we wouldn't really notice each other. He wanted to chose economics as one of his options, but they weren't running it his year, so he chose drama instead. In drama at our school, when going on trips they would often mix A-level and GCSE, so we both saw each other on this drama trip. My friend had the ticket with the seat number on it to sit next to him, but I asked if we could switch seats, so I ended up sitting next to him, and through out the performance, at half time and (because I asked) on the bus trip back, which was when we arranged to meet up at his house and watch films at the weekend, I then ended up going to his all day everyday for 3 days straight, and we met up anytime we could there after, didn't make it official until 2 weeks of us acting like we were together, we kept it totally secret from our friends until he came and met my parents, now it's been 6 months 💕 sorry it's so long and confusing, but it always makes me laugh how many factors there were against us and yet we still ended up together ☺️😍
