Pregnant in fl?

Anyone im Florida? Thinking of spending a few weeks during summer down there. Of course that brings up thoughts of zika. Is it still a threat?

I live in south Florida, about an hour from Miami, and it's not a concern. I had a baby in June as well (when Zika was blowing up) and it really wasn't a big deal then either. Almost all cases in Florida were related to travel to foreign countries. I watched the Florida CDC releases for a while and they were much less dramatic than what was reported on the news.

I live in South Florida, in Ft Lauderdale (about 30 minutes from Miami). At the moment it's not an issue at all.

Last summer there were active transmissions in areas of Miami but they've all been cleared. They clear an area once it's been 60 days since a transmission, but my doctor said there's only been one case of local transmission reported so far in 2017.

I will say we haven't hit the rainy season yet so mosquitoes are at a minimum. By the summer, it could come back given how many people travel to and from the Caribbean through South Florida. But they did a very good job of tracking and containing it last year.

I just wear bug spray with deet and/or picaridin as a precaution any time I'm going to spend a lot of time outside.

I live in Florida and they are doing routine Zika testing as part of my prenatal work up. But the immediate threat has dissipated. They do recommends insect repellent with DEET however 😊

I live just north of Florida, and while I wouldn't be surprised if Miami was still a concern the rest of the state is under a drought so no water for mosquitos to thrive in.

I'm supposed to travel to Tampa in a few weeks... My doctor said it is perfectly fine and that the only area of concern still is Miami

Doc told me to stay out of Miami and Mexico, but I'm a flight attendant so I'll be all over the other parts of FL pretty frequently
