Are republicans, democrats and independents patriots?

I often get sick of the hyperbole that ONLY one political group can be considered patriots. Like, to be a patriot you have to fly an American flag, have an eagle bumper sticker on your car and be a staunch constitutionalist.

I personally believe that we all want what's best for this country and its citizens but we have different ideas of what's best and how to get there. I believe we are all patriots. Whether we believe in common sense gun control, no gun control, prochoice, antichoice, etc. There are different ways to be a patriot.

I'm not sure I fully understand the question. There are things about my country that I love, and things that need desperately to change. I'm certainly not in favor of blind patriotism due to where I randomly happened to be born. Most days I just relate really hard to this eagle.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.

Patriotism is love of your country. The modern, rah-rah, blind patriotism is sad, to me. I don't think that it is patriotism to ignore the problems in our country. Patriotism isn't a pissing contest. It isn't about how many flags you can wrap yourself in or how many bumper stickers you can slap on.

I'm not a patriot. I think blind patriotism is harmful especially if you dont acknowledge that your country isn't necessarily innocent. Our country isn't the worst but it's also not the best like people try to push. Im for making the country better, but not for walking around with an American flag shoved up my ass.

I don't think it's specific to one group, but I don't think everyone is one. I'm not. I'm an independent also. I don't think it has anything to do with my lack of patriotism though.

I don't believe everyone is a patriot or wants what's best for the country because I have seen women with mindsets that state they don't care if costs even double and other people can't afford health care  because she can afford it and she will be fine even if she was forced to pay 100% more for no reason. That is absolutely self centered. Basically "If *I* am fine, everyone else's family friends and neighbors can suffer."

Not all people are good people, and I will stand against them. 🤷🏻‍♀️
