I'm an old fashioned feminist. I think feminist nowadays have taken it too far and put men lower than themselves. I believe in EQUAL rights. No gender should be more important than the other

It's sad that many people think of being a feminist as a bad thing. There are some ignorant people who believe that means woman are and should be superior to men. That is untrue. It means woman should be equal to men. Equals!!!! If you don't believe in that, I feel sorry for you. And no one should be ashamed to say they are a feminist. Just because some people in society these days are blowing it out of proportion, does not make the true meaning of it anything more or less than what it is.

I will take this opportunity to express a time line of my own journey regarding feminism. For a long time, I really hated women and thought the majority were just terrible and sneaky people. My mother abandoned me at a young age and my stepson wasn't really any better. I was really resentful towards women. And men really but mostly women. People talk about this great bond between a mother and a daughter. I called bs on that because I was angry. Then I got pregnant. I assumed I was having a boy. Im not sure why. I just had that feeling. I got the anatomy scan done and boom. I was told my boyfriend and I were having a girl. My world changed. I don't know what it was but I almost immediately felt stronger and more determined to be just the best mother I could ever be. I let go of my past preconceptions of women because I wasn't and I'm not going to be like that. I'll be the mom to my daughter that I wanted and should have had. So am I feminist? Yes. During my era of hating women, I encountered a lot of people who felt the same exact way as me. Both men and women who shared these same thoughts about how terrible, conniving, self centered, and materialistic women were. Now I spend my time defending instead of partaking. Not for me, but for my daughter. Speaking to women on this app alone has made me see that women are being put down and shamed for a lot of unnecessary things. Not only women, but people of color and other oppressed minorities. So now I'm an intersection feminist. Lol I will be surprised if anyone actually reads this.

I believe in equal rights, yes. I don't call myself a feminist. I have more liberal views, am I a democrat? No. I have no political affiliation.
