Do you think taking a menstrual cup out is hard to do? (I need this for my 12 year old) I've never used one

I put it depends, because eventually you get better and it gets easier taking it out. But in the beginning, the difficulty was the painnnnn, sometimes it can be painful😅

It might be easier to start off with tampons.  Sometimes it's difficult to position the cup exactly right and can get messy

Mine hurts a little bit to take out. But that's just because I have a really small vagina/my bone is really pronounced. So when I take it out it pushes against the bone and hurts. ☹️ but I've found that it helps to grab the cup from higher up instead of using the little grabby part - and then do it quick like a bandaid lol

Try different cups. There's some small ones or ones with a more flexible ring. There's a photo I saw once with all the available cups all lined up in rows so you could see how they looked and were shaped. There was like 40 of them!!

My tip is to practice *on* period days. No dry runs before, even with lube. The vagina, opening and area around cervix is more loose and relaxed and spongy when on period and that's just more comfy for insertion and especially removal. So as gross as it sounds, wait til there's red.

Practice folding it and holding it beforehand. Watch some video tips.

Make sure it's pushed up high and doesn't pop open within the more tight part of canal where it's got a ring of muscle, it has to go way up to cervixal area where it's stretchier and not muscled. Only then should she let it pop open by letting go of the fold and pressing it to get it to be completely open. Bear down when removing it. Bearing down/squatting shortens the vaginal canal.

There's a learning curve, wear pads til confident. Take some time to observe the patterns to follow for light/heavy days. On heavy days I have to change at 4-6 hours. Light days are 12 hours or more.

Don't just give up from one mistake or discomfort. Even inserting tampons for first time takes some learning and finesse.

It's a great option for even young girls! remembering pads and tampons and forgetting to change them in time is a thing of the past! I wish I had it earlier, I had a lot of accidents and was always short on tampons and didn't have the $ or ability to just drive out and get a box when I was in school all day.

It was hard to before because it would go high up for me and I'm sure it will fircher too because the cervex moves often. But even in the direction on how to use the cup it said to try to push it down (almost like pooping) and it makes the cup go lower and easy to grab. Also after you are able to feel the bottom she should pinch the bottom to break the seal, this makes it less uncomfortable to take it out fully. It sounds hard but she'll get the hang of it fairly quick.
