Only one child?

Question

Has anybody ever planned to have multiple children, but during or after a first pregnancy decided on only one? Lately Ive been thinking of the benefits of having only one child, and its starting to seem like I may just be one and done. Any body else have similar expierences? How did you handle it? Were you guilty? If you had a partner how did they feel?

I wanted 3, but now I'm like i just wanna spoil this one and have her all to myself.... but most likely will have another one.  This week i want only her.

I always thought I didn't want any kids and now that I've been pregnant and now that I have my son, I want more one day if life permits.

I'm speaking from the point of view of the few only children I know that are friends with my oldest. When they come over to play they ALWAYS mention how they wish they had a sibling to play with. I have a 9 and 7 year old and 3 month old. These are the 9 year Olds that usually mention it. I personally think whatever works for you is what works lol its just an observation I've made that  the ones I have met and are still kids(children are very honest especially with each other at this age) that they feel they'd like a sibling someone to share the things that only a kid can appreciate with.

I would be fine giving all my love to my daughter, but I want her to have siblings so I will have more children.

I always said I only wanted one kid or twins. But after 5years TTC #1 I'm just hoping I can have at least one. I don't think you should guilty for only wanting one kid. I know lots of people who only have one by choice.

I would never intentionally only have one kid. I loved having older sisters growing up,   I always had more life experiences than my only child friends because I was hanging out with people older than me. There's no relationship you can find that's like having a brother or sister. Also when me and their dad die I don't want them to be without immediate family. Plus, from a totally objective standpoint, if your one kid dies you're childless now. It's better to have a few extra lol that's why they had so many kids back in the day when the life expectancy was lower.

I used to always want 2 but now that I have 1 I don't want anymore I wanna give her all my attention and spoil her and just be a little family

I had this feeling briefly a few years back. However I'm now pregnant with my second so obviously changed my mind....I myself am an only child and always hated it! However I did benefit in some ways by being my parents only focus. It is a personal choice and depends on many factors. 🙂
