Diabetic and Pregnant?

I'm a type 1 diabetic and currently 21w5d pregnant with my first baby. I'm on a tflex insulin pump but for the last few days my bgs have been all over the place. High then low then normal then extremely low. I'm at the point where I'm afraid to eat because I don't want my bgs being above 140. My a1c pre pregnancy was 8.1 and as soon as I found out I was pregnant (spontaneous not planned) I brought it down to 5.8 in just a few weeks. Baby is perfectly fine confirmed by fetal echo and 20 week anatomy scan but I'm just so paranoid that if my readings aren't perfect I'm putting my son at risk 😩 even if I'm above 125 I start freaking out. Anybody else here pregnant and diabetic? Type 1, type 2 or gestational?

Well, I was on the pump but I almost completely cut out carbs. I did well pre pregnancy, my a1c was 5.6 and during pregnancy is 3.4
I got off the pump at 11 weeks(found out I was pregnant at 3weeks and 4 days and my sugars were crazy!! And got the pump at 4 weeks) since then hardly and carbs and i do levemir shots in the morning and at bedtime and Novolog before meals. I go for a fetal echo every month(I'm 33 weeks and 3 days) just got one this past Friday. The cardiologist said that it's the insulin in unsafe levels that affect the baby's heart, so if you're on safe levels then don't worry about your baby :) and well yeah, higher than normal levels of glucose are bad cuz they make baby get bigger(gave birth to an 8 pounder at 36 weeks last time via c section) but the high is not as bad as the hypoglycemic episodes, those are what we gotta be aware of cuz they can hurt the baby, but that's in the low low range. Honestly if you just stay on your strict diet and avoid most carbs you will be fine.

I'm gestational. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about adjusting your insulin? My sugars are pretty consistent where my fasting is 90 and 2 hours after meals I am most commonly between 100-108.

Hey! I'm 5 weeks today with my 3rd pregnancy (2 miscarriages) and a type 1 for 14 years and I have found that low carb is the best way to go while pregnant. There will be spikes but they will be easily corrected. Try not to stress too much. You know how Diabetes is what will be good one day will be way off then next 😂Good luck to you!

I'm type 1 and on an insulin pump. Pre pregnancy mg a1c was 4.8 and now it's 4.6 however since I am in the last trimester I am noticing an increase in fasting as well as 2 hrs after meals. My Dr wants me below 120 2 hours after. I am seeing my endocrinologist to change my pump settings. I would say Call your endocrinologist and discuss what's going  on. I am trying to eat very little carbs to try and keep it under where they want it. As the pregnancy progresses you will see the numbers rise some. Try not to stress as that can raise your sugars as well. Praying for you
