Budgeting for Baby?

Having kids is clearly not cheap, so what budget adjustments or cuts have you made (or plan to make) to live within your means?

First, we decided against cribs and went with pack and play. We've started looking for ways to save on diapers and formula, coupons and subscribing to Amazon prime. We've also shopped for clothes almost exclusively second hand which has saved us tons of money. Those are ways to save money up front at least 🙂

I don't buy things for myself as often anymore. Instead of buying a new outfit or going out to the movies, I'm trying to put that money aside for the baby and baby fund.

We've chosen to start planning meals so we have a set budget for food and we aren't going out to eat like at all any more! Plus we are try to cut back on personal spending and start buying things for the baby instead whenever we feel the need to spoil ourselves :)

We cut our cable as we barely watch it. I plan to breastfeed and my pump will be free through insurance for when I need it. We are refinishing dressers already in the room to store the baby clothes and using the longer one as a changing table. I am also planning to cloth diaper to save us some money, at least until daycare comes into play as I don't know if our sitter will be down with cloth. If BF doesn't work out for us, I know we can sign up for coupons. We've had so many people offer to get or give us stuff, though, we won't have many issues with clothes, car seat, or crib. Clothes are easily found practically new at yard sales and thrift stores. I don't plan to buy any new clothes for the first year. I know we'll get a bunch at the shower and someone is giving us boxes of baby clothes they are wanting to be rid of.

I have emailed Huggies and asked for coupons and or free samples and they sent me some coupons. I watch Target for their diaper sales... they sell 2 boxes of diapers for $50 and then you get a $10 gift card... and then I used that gift card on the next set of 2 boxes... etc.
