Suddenly irregular?

My period has been super regular for the longest time, always 28 days. Last cycle it was 33 days, which I thought was weird. This cycle I have been spotting on and off and now at 23 days I seem to have gotten my period. What is going on? I'm not on any sorth of birth control.
