Does your baby need to nurse all night to "stay asleep"

My baby is 4 months, so still young and I understand he needs the comfort and am all about it I do wish I could set my son down to his own bed sometimes for a brake, for those of your who are ok with sleep training, I sleep trained my daughter but she was bottle fed so there wasn't that connection she didn't sleep with me, I feel like this time around it's more cruel because I would be taking away more from him if that makes sense lol the dynamic is just SO different. Anyways looking for advice or what others have done to transition then from that habit and to there own bed when the time comes...ideally I wish I could put him down for bed and maybe around 3,4 5 am he could come join me for snuggles haha I'm all for attachment parenting but I'm desperate for some sleep... not thinking of sleep training until he's 6/7 months jw what you bf moms have done

My dd is 2 and this is what I always thought I wanted until my friend said how she wished she could use nursing to put her lo to sleep. She said' it's just so easy. I don't breastfeed and have to spend so much time rocking singing, etc to get him to sleep'. And I realized, yep it really is easy. She falls asleep with a few mins. She's 2 now and we are weaning and I will miss how easy it is!!
With that being said, there is a 4 month sleep regression so it's likely a bad time to start anything.
And pretty much all child development experts agree that no sleep training should be done before 6 months. They lack the ability to self soothe before than.
Something that helped us a bit was No Cry Sleep Solution by Rebecca Pantley.
I say a bit because she's 2 and still wakes multiple times a night. But I was able to get her to not need a pacifier at night after my breast and I was able to teach her to unlatch and roll over and fall asleep. Before she would startle when I unlatched and we would have to start over🙄
So the book was helpful.

I wouldn't say my LO nurses all night. I nurse her to sleep in my bed and she sleeps in my bed until I go to bed. I then nurse her before I go to bed and put her in her bed after. She sleeps in a pack n play right up against our bed. She will sleep in her bed sometimes for 3 hour, but sometimes she just wants to be close to me. Where your little one doesn't take a paci it sounds harder. When my LO wakes up I offer her the paci first. If she is still awake I nurse her. Have you tried just putting a hand on your LO when they wake up? Sometimes I do feel like she is just constantly nursing for comfort but again she will be 4 months and the sleep regression is creeping up. Not sure i was any help in this comment but good luck! And It will get easier.

At 4 months there's an awful sleep regression. My baby at 3.5 months started not being able to put herself back to sleep when she transitioned (I'd google sleep patterns at 4 months). Now she's 5 months and it's hit or miss some nights I can feed her and lay her back down no problem other nights she's up for an hour and can't fall back asleep. I won't be sleep training but here are things I'm doing: consistent nap and bedtime routine, making sure she's tired when putting her to sleep (especially at bedtime), we are now using a sleep sack at night and for naps I'm swaddling her (more like wrapping) with her arms out and her hips loose, dark at night/no noise/no talking... and tons of white noise (we put the furnace fan on, humidifier and fan on in our room), we also bedshare at night but I'm currently transitioning her to go to bed in her crib and then I transfer her to our bed after first night feed. Hope you get some much needed slee!

Have you tried swaddling? My little guy will be 4 months on the 23rd and he is ebf. I usually change him and swaddle him, then i nurse him and rock him to sleep and lay him down in his crib, he sleeps 7-8 hours and then wakes up ti nurse around 6am. Thats when i cuddle him for a bit and then put him back in his crib once he is asleep again. 
If i dont swaddle him, he wakes up constantly through the night to nurse.

My daughter was the same except bottle fed had to rock and rock and even though this ones bf he does NOT just nurse to sleep during the day, and definitely not bedtime which is the hardest I still have to rock and rock, but once we're in the bed he latches on just to stay asleep lol if he completely wakes in the night it's much harder to just nurse him I have to go rock him.... but he looks for it all night and will completely wake if I don't latch him on if that makes sense idk, it's going to be hard one to brake when the time comes 😩 he's used to having me right there, which I understand is good for him and I love it and want the comfort for him, it's just rough I just need a brake and to stretch out and sleep for a couple hours by myself.. he only naps on me in the day too so I'm always being touched I just need a brake.. going straight to bed at 8 or 9 after 2 hours of rocking. And having no time with hubby has been rough I miss my evenings, thanks for the recommendations, I'll look into the book... I don't mind rocking and soothing.. I just need him to nap, and go to bed at bedtime for a couple hours... the rest I can handle it's just constant never get to "turn off"
