never used tampons HELP

I'm starting a job as a swim instructor and I don't know how to deal with my period as I will be in and out of the pool consistently. I know being in the pool water acts as a block for period blood but what about when I get out for a break and have to get back in ? I've never used tampons and I'm actually pretty scared. Any tips would help!!
