Can you spoil a new born?

My son is 6 weeks and I believe he is spoiled. I can't do anything without holding him. He won't even sleep by his self, if I lay him down he wakes right up. But he sleeps just gone on my girls. My mom say you can't spoil a newborn but I say otherwise.

Most babies need attention like that especially that young. They still don't know how to self soothe or sleep on their own. This baby has been inside of you for almost 10 months, it needs to get use to sleeping outside of you and by himself in the crib. I had a bassinet that vibrated and would always turn it on to put my baby to sleep when he was a newborn, you could try something like that maybe to get him to sleep on his own a little bit better

No, it's perfectly normal for them to be held. Older generations often have been taught that being less attentive makes babies more independent  but the opposite is now believed to be true - more physical contact early on makes them more secure and independent later on.

You can't spoil a baby but there might a reason baby is fussy when you put him down.
Is he sick after his bottle? It could be that he has a mild case of reflux and that it's uncomfortable when he lays down. If i carries on, maybe mention it to your doctor when you see them next. 
Other than this, the fourth trimester articles are worth a read- they might give you your sanity back of nothing else. It will pass. I know it's really tough, especially when you're so exhausted but it will get better.

You can not spoil a newborn. Im a child development major. Holding your baby and responding to their cries allows for the baby to create a secure attatchment to you. They are learning that they can trust you and rely on you. Having a secure attachment leads to so many different side effects such as healthier relationships and social skills, confidence and higher IQ scores. When a baby crys they are crying because they need a need met and that is there only way to communicate. They are not able to cry the same way a 2yr old can to throw a tantrum.

No, this is all brand new for them. I don't believe you can spoil a new born, love your baby and give them what they need. Before you know it, it will be a distant memory. You are your babies literal everything, give them a moment to get used to being out of the womb, dealing with hunger, gas, temperature, noise, light, and everything else.
