Is Group B Strep Hereditary?

My sister is a carrier of Group B Strep & had to be on antibiotics the 4 times she gave birth. Is it hereditary & do I have a greater chance of having it?

Everyone has it at some point or another. You could have it at your 37 week check, or whenever your provider does it, and not have it in labor. Just as you could not have it and the check and have it in labor. It's a common bacteria that only causes an issue during birth.

No. It's just something in your gut and it comes and goes. You can test positive for it and by the time it comes to you going into labor it could be gone.
