Is it wrong for an employee in healthcare to wear their hair down at work?

I'm a Vet Tech and I was talking to someone today who said that heathcare workers should wear their hair up at all times. Obviously this isn't a rule but curious what others do. My hair is long and gets in the way so it's up by choice.

I'm an animal care attendant and we're qualified to have our hair up when we work. Don't want it getting in anything gross or caught up in something while working (or falling all over my face and blinding me 😂) if it's not mandatory in the workplace I guess it's their choice

I think its more so about all the gross stuff you  tend to come in contact with.   Not about whats right  or wrong

Whatever they're comfortable with as long as they can do their job effectively and their hair isn't getting into open sounds and stuff. If I worked in a clinic or doctors office, my hair would be down. If I worked at a hospital, it would be up so I could go go go if there's an emergency.

I'm a dental assistant and my hair is always up bc it's nasty to have your hair in people's faces. If you're dealing with dogs I don't think it matters.

Depends on what type of healthcare...I'm a NICU nurse and tend to wear my hair up (it's thick and heavy and gets in the way anyways) but I work with other nurses who leave their hair down.  I think that as long as it doesn't get in the way and looks professional, and depending on your job, you should be able to wear it down.

I think there are more jobs where it is more concerning if someone doesn't have their hair up. For instance, anyone that deals with food.

I think it should be mandatory for those who work in close quarters with body fluids (nurses, techs, etc) but not all of healthcare as a whole. I work in an outpatient office and 99% of our patients walk in and walk out...my hair isn't touching them to turn them in bed or anything or reaching under them to wipe, etc. Then I could see germs being transferred patient to patient from hair. Long story short: I see it both ways.

Other people's hair anywhere near my face grosses me out. (Long story as to why). If your hair touches my face I'm likely to gag so I do prefer their hair is up but I don't think it's mandatory nor should it be.

Depends on what you're doing... if you just work as a receptionist, bulling and coding...etc then who cares. But if you have really long hair as a doctor I would wear it up while doing exams or procedures.
