emotionally devastating | how many cans of formula do you go through?

my son is 3 months old and has been breastfed. my supply used to be great; not sure what happened. he's been super fussy lately and gnawing on his hand so I offered him a bottle after I breastfed him for 25 minutes while he squirmed. well, he downed 8 ounces. 😰
now I feel like I've been starving my baby so I'm 80% sure I'm switching to formula. I will not have him go hungry.

how many cans do you eff moms go through a month? what size? we are trying to ballpark what to budget for formula. thanks!

Maybe your baby is going through a growth spurt, and you're not supposed to supplement when this happens. 
If your pediatrician isn't concerned about your baby's weight, I guess you shouldn't either.
I'd definitely wait to see the pediatrician before making any decisions.

We sometimes buy the 24 oz Aldi gentle brand for $13.50 and it lasts 5 days. We started buying the 48 oz Sams gentle brand for $24. They're made by the same company.

We are on WIC, he drinks about 32oz most days. We get 9 12oz cans a month and that does it! I try to pump too and offer breast as much as possible, he started rfusing my breasts a while back and it is very depressing. I regret ever offering him a bottle, I was just so tired of cluster feeding. If I could go back in time I would do things differently. Best of luck to you momma

I had the same problem. I'd suggest just supplementing if you still want to breastfeed. I give my son a bottle every other feeding and I've been doing that since 3 months. Doing that I use about 4 cans a month now at 7 months.

My daughter goes through 3 small cans a week and shes only 10 weeks.

They say baby can drink an average of 38oz a day or about 6-7 bottles..all depends on the baby though. I would say about 3 12oz cans a week!

We use up and up formula (target brand) the sensitive version but all are the same price. It's 36 oz for 23-24 bucks? Right now they have a sale where you buy 3 get a 10 dollar gift card. That size container will last us a week to a week and a half. We go through more because my baby is 2 months old and is drinking 4-6 ounces every feed.
