tattoos while pregnant🤔🤔

So I talked to my OB and when I asked her about getting a tattoo while pregnant she said that was FINE!!! She even recommended a couple of shops she had in mind. She gave me advice on sizes of them and where I should get them on my body. I love my new tattoos and even though they are small they have very special meaning to them. My doctor said they were perfect and exactly what she was recommending but I have been getting so much crap about it it's not even funny!! Someone please tell me they've gotton tattoos while pregnant too please.

Your doc is stupid. And the artist who tattooed you is stupid. The reason they say not to is because IF you get an infection ypur body will struggle to fight it off. Thus stressing out you and the baby. I tattoo in a shop and if any of us tattoo a pregnant or breastfeeding woman we would be fired in the spot. No legit shop's insurance will cover tattooing pregnant women.

If that was legit done in a shop I would not have even paid the artist who did it. It does look like it was done by an "aspiring artist."

btw, I didn't say you were stupid, you didn't know. You just received false info that could jeopardize yours and your baby's health

Can a tattoo not wait until after the baby is born? Why risk getting an infection or putting your body in that much stress? A tattoo shop in my area closed down for spreading HIV through dirty needles. Things like that do happen. I think tattoos are great, I have one myself. But I also think it can wait. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some people don't know the basic information, others like us do know. I'm just throwing that out their because it can happen. It shouldn't happen & it's pretty messed up for the ones that it has happened to, but you're right. The person needs to make sure they are opening new needles before getting a tattoo, but the tattoo artist should also know better then to reuse a needle to begin with.

Basic if it's s bad shop all you have to do is pay attention to everything to make sure they are a clean sanitized shop. Shit if I saw that he didn't open a new needle I would leave.

That's why you check the shops ratings and make sure they open the new needle in front of you. People are truly stupid if they let the artist tattoo them with a needle that wasn't packaged. I used to be an apprentice for tattooing, Sonia . So it's basically the persons fault if they allow used ones.

I would NEVER get a tattoo while pregnant or breast feeding. That's just stupid and stupid on the artist to do it. What if it gets infected? None of my tattoo artist friends would even consider tattooing a pregnant woman. I want more but it can wait til the little one is out. No tattoo is that important that I'd want to possibly endanger my baby

I highly doubt your doctor actually said it was fine, if they did they shouldn't be practicing.& Absolutely no reputable tattoo shop will tattoo a pregnant woman. They don't want that liability.Looks like you went to a home tattoo artist - which significantly increases your chance of infection.Definitely could've waited till after you had your baby.

😂😂 omg. did she really just lie about where she got it. 🤔

Btw the most common infection that you get from tattoos is mrsa and staph infection, witch are hard to get rid of in the first place, most meds pregnant woman can't take, no doctor in their right mind would tell you it's okay to get a tattoo and where to go. And it looks unprofessional

You do that. Try waiting to put yourself at risk of infection until after you have the baby next time.

I haven't/ wouldn't but that's just me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I find it interesting your doctor was supportive of it... a trustworthy tattoo shop won't even tattoo pregnant women because of the risk of infection.

I would be changing doctors if they said it's fine because clearly she's not very educated. And then I wouldn't ever trust the artist who would tattoo a pregnant woman. I think a simple tattoo can definitely wait until youre not pregnant. Trust me I've been dying to get my tattoo but have had no problem holding it off for the well being of myself and my baby.

I had a tattoo scheduled but 4 days before I was to go I found out I was pregnant so I am going to reschedule after I give birth. It's recommended not to get them because of the risk of infection. I already have 2, and I considered still doing mine because it's with a reputable place and I highly doubt I'd get an infection, but I still decided to wait just in case something happened I'd blame myself.

but infection is more likely to occur if the shop/artist isn't using clean equipment.

you usually dont get an infection from the shop. You get the infection while it is healing. Good idea putting it off

but most places won't tattoo pregnant or even breastfeeding women so I'm surprised they did that.

There are SO many reasons not to get tattoos while pregnant...ink rejection, infection, unknown how the ink effects baby, liver function, the list goes on!! I have a hard time believing a doctor would okay this...and if they really did, you need to find a new doctor! Absolutely crazy!

I have several tattoos and I would never... Is a tattoo that serious? You know the risks, and you know what could be the negative result. Why risk your baby, who'll just be there for nine months, on a tattoo? You went nine months without those tattoos so I'm not seeing the huge urge to get them while you're pregnant. But, I digress. Your risk, your baby, and your body. Nobody can make your decisions for you.
