newborn sleep flat or elevated?

I have a bassinet I'm going to use for my newborn when she arrives but not sure if they are okay to sleep flat on their back? Or do they have to be elevated? Should I purchase a wedge? She also has a brand new crib but it's same question! Please help I have a 5 year old son and I don't remember how to care for a newborn lol I'm reaseraching believe me ✨

Baby suppose to sleep flat on their back however every baby is different with time you will know what works for you . She used to have better nights in there than her crib. Isn't that elevated I think just perfect. Now she is 11 months she still takes nap there

Back. But baby will.move to comfort. When my kids would get congested or tend to go to 1 side we would elevate the head of bed for incline or side of bed to encourage a Left or Right roll position by placing books/2x4 scraps under the crib or bed legs. All recommended by our pediatrician. The side/side roll was when our son preferred to lay to his left which caused the left side of his head to start flattening. When "slightly" propped on the Left to encourage roll to the right it was corrected easily without surgical or helmet intervention.

My first daughter slept on her back but my 2nd baby slept in a rock in play sleeper so she wasn't flat because she had belly issues and would spit up spontaneously. My pediatrician approved.
