where do you place your child's car seat?

I'm a FTM and my son is 3 months old and starting to get anxiety about where to play his car seat. Right now it's on the rear passenger side but then I started thinking what if someone hit me on that side and if I should move him to the middle or other side??? 
Anyone offer any advice/experiences?!

Safest is the middle IF you can get a nice, secure fit in the middle seat. It's a little bit more of a pain getting baby in and out but totally worth it if you get hit on the side.

Personally if the middle didn't work I would put him/her on the rear passenger side. I think it would be safer for getting her in and out of the car when parked on the side of a street and safer for merging on an interstate.

They say the next best spot after the middle is directly behind the driver because in an accident your instincts are to protect yourself while swerving. My truck is too large to use the middle so that's where I put it.

My husband took his truck and the car seat to the fire station to have them properly install it for him. They said the middle is the safest place. I drive an SUV with captain chairs so they said to put the car seat behind me.

Middle! Heard it's the safest. But I would look into your cars manual. Maybe it says something in there.

We have our daughter's car seat in the middle, that would be the best option.

Stop by your local fire department- they'll inspect and install it for free. They recommended the middle, so that's what we do!

I started out with it in the middle but found that it was too looSe.. it is now in the passenger side rear seat and it nice and snug.

It depend on your vehicle and the shape of your backseat as to where to put the car seat. Some cars it isn't the best to put them in the middle and some it is.
