My birth story 39 + 3
I was 3 cm at my 39 week appointment, so my doctor decided to schedule an induction for that night since he was on call and we wanted him to deliver my baby. Well, once I get to the hospital, before I am even admitted, I immediately tell the nurses to check me because I am having intense contractions. Well, Im at a 4. They immediately get me entered into the system and get the fluids going. An hour later they check me again, the nurse says "honey you aren't getting induced tonight, you're in labor and shes coming very soon!" Contractions are very strong at this point (my husband was amazingly supportive). They give me delaudid to help until I can get the epidural. I get the epidural, about 20 minutes later, my water breaks. 30 minutes after my water breaks I'm urgently telling the nurse I need to push, she checks and I'm at 10cm, time to go. She has me to do a couple practice pushes and tells me to stop. I can't stop at this point, shes coming! She calls for the doctor STAT. Baby's head is halfway out and all I remember is telling the nurse that it hurts so bad, I have to push, and that shes going to have to deliver my baby! About 15 seconds later, in walks the doctor, throws gloves on in time to catch her. All I can conclude is that our baby girl figured if we were going to try to make her come early, she was going to be calling the shots. Arrived at hospital at midnight, delivered at 4:54 am, 6 minutes before the doctor was originally supposed to be administering my pitocine.
