Nerve Damage

Jodi
I gave birth on July 29, 2016. I was in labor 26 1/2 hours, 2 1/2 of those hours were pushing. A nurse holding one leg and my husband holding the other and then they used vacuum suction to help when I could no longer push. Within 24 hours after labor I was having MRIs and tests run because everything from the knees down was paralyzed. I was sent home with no diagnosis and a walker. I went to several neurologists and even talked with my OBGYN and no one would take responsibility for what happened. After being improperly diagnosed with a spinal injury (I believe on purpose so the epidural would be to blame and I wouldn't be able to sue), I was sent to a top spinal specialist. I was finally properly diagnosed at this appointment as having peroneal nerve damage caused by laying in one position for 24 hours (I was never moved by a nurse), having my legs shoved way back to push, and pushing for so long.
I'm ten months postpartum and I don't know how long it will take to completely heal. I found a Facebook group that has helped me tremendously! It's called "Moms with Fenoral/Peroneal Nerve Damage." If you or someone you know had experienced nerve damage after L&D please know that there is a group of women who will help you!
