dying hair while breastfeeding??

So I was boasting today how as soon as I have this baby I'm going to dye my hair pastel pink
 ( been in the army since I was 17 and am so ready to do something crazy with my hair lol) well my male coworker gasped and was like whaaaat?! You can't do that while breastfeeding!! Think of all the chemicals being absorbed into your skin! That's all going to your baby!

Whaaaa??😱🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ is that even a thing??

I don't dye my hair while pregnant (yeah I'm one of those) but I definitely dye it while breastfeeding. People overdramatize everything about breastfeeding, no wonder the rates are so low! That is 100% fine

You can dye and bleach your hair during pregnancy, no problem.

The guidelines are;
•wait till after 1st trimester
•leave a small buffer between your hair and scalp (I leave 1/2 an inch or so)
• do it in a WELL VENTILATED space.

I use the bright coloured 'vegetable based' dyes, like Crazy Colour and Manic Panic; they are completely fine. The benefit with them is, you bleach your hair once, then dye with these, and topping up is easy, and 'bad' chemical free. The biggest risk is accidentally dying your hands and ears bright colours.

My hair is currently red :) (with 3 inch long roots, because I want to wait a while before I bleach again)

You can also use manic panic, it's vegetable based and completely safe, I even know kids who use it and dye their hair hot pink, blue, purple etc. You're fine!

Dying your hair is ok, very little dye gets observed into the skin just make sure you don't get anyone your skin if you're very concerned, also use pregnancy safe dyes. Bleaching isn't ok while pregnant I'm not sure how it would be while breastfeeding. Honestly I think it'd be fine but to be sure ask your doctor. I would 100% ask doctor if I were you to be sure.

It is perfectly fine to dye your hair, its just not reccomened to bleach your hair in the first trimester...anything after is fine!!!

No I know a lot of women don't do it during the first trimester.  I didn't thru out my entire pregnancy.  As long as it's well ventilated you'll be fine.
