I love you

So I've been with my boyfriend for 3 months now and I feel so strongly for him...he's a very sweet guy, very sentimental and a mommas boy❤️ I want to tell him that I love him but I'm scared how he will react, because he always says things like "I love you with those glasses" or "I do this out of love" but we have never officially said "I love you." Plus the last boy I was this vulnerable with broke my heart into pieces. Any advice for me?
