Our crazy birth story.
So I was 41 weeks when I went up to the hospital for a growth scan and my 2nd stretch and sweep, feeling very fed up but not feeling like labour was anywhere near. After they did my scan I went for the sweep whilst they reviewed my notes....next thing I knew the midwife was telling me they will be able to break my waters that day, and could we go back in 1 hour?! So we got our bags and headed up to the hospital. After some foetal monitoring they broke my water and off I went. I had small contractions very quickly, and they progressed until I began to over contract, at least 6 times every 10 minutes. After 7 hours labouring I'd only reached 4cm and I was exhausted, so I got an epidural. It was now about 1am. At 4am I had made it to 9cm finally, but baby was not descending as she should have been. An hour later I was 10cm and they had agreed they'd let me push for an hour to try and bring her down, but we were looking at an assisted delivery with forceps. So I pushed. Baby didn't move. Then things began to change, she wasn't coping and they wanted to go to theatre, definitely forceps but maybe a caesarian. Then definitely a caesarian. By this point I'd been in labour for 12hrs, my epidural had worn off and I was sick from all the drugs. I was shaking as they wheeled me to theatre but I wasn't cold, just ill. I had a big bleed whilst being operated on, and because they'd let me push baby was stuck and didn't want to come out. But finally 7 mins later I heard a small cry and our little girl arrived. Taylor Bethany Dove, with so much hair it's unreal! She's so worth it. 😍
