Period! ( GROSS)

I'm on the nexplanon birthcontrol and have been for the last 3 years come October. My cycles have been becoming more regular. And I was wondering if it's normal for the blood or whatever to be a VERY dark brown if not black in color? Google doesn't tell me anything would you guys know?
