good place to stay in New Orleans?

Hey gals.

I'm going to New Orleans in July (12th-16th). Never been. The event I'm going to will be held in the Super Bowl Dome? 
The address is 1500 Sugar Bowl Dr, New Orleans, LA, 70112. 
I'm doing research myself but have never booked a place on my own so I feel like I need a little aid. It'll be 3 other people plus myself in one room.
 I've googled hotels, tripadvisor, AirBnB. The last two I looked for a house/apt to rent or a B&B to even be at just so it would be a little more inviting then sleeping in a hotel for several days, you know?

Any suggestions on a specific place??

Hi, I was just there in February and since I went with my SO, I did not stay with my cousin that is a local in NOLA. Anyway, I personally liked staying by Magazine St. and I preferred using AirBnb over a regular hotel. Some people like being close to the French quarter but I feel like that could be a tad too noisy, since it is usually filled with tourists. My biggest tip, is if you go with AirBnb just to read the bios and see what's around the area to determine if it's worth it for you. If you are staying 5 days, some even offer a weekly discount.
